On Conflicts of Interest #26, Kyle and Will go over a recent report stating that the US military has flown airstrikes in support of the Taliban – its supposed mortal enemy in Afghanistan – on a limited basis at least since last year. According to US military personnel, the strikes are only carried out to help the militant group in battles against the Islamic State.

Libya's warring parties have signed a "permanent ceasefire" deal, potentially ending a nearly decade-long conflict sparked by President Barack Obama's push to overthrow Libyan strongman Muammar al-Gaddafi in 2011, which has had disastrous consequences for the entire country since. It remains to be seen whether the new peace deal will hold.

Sudan has agreed to a normalization pact with Israel, becoming the fifth Arab state to recognize Tel Aviv and resume diplomatic relations, alongside Egypt, Jordan, and – since last month – the UAE and Bahrain. The Palestinians have condemned the deal as a stab in the back.
